Alpha Psi’s Reading Week 2012

Over the course of reading week, brothers from Alpha Psi had the privilege of visiting chapters across the Northeast and Southern United States. With a divide and conquer method, cars were sent off in a variety of directions. One car, with Brothers Briggs, Muller-Moran, and Litman, was even sent as far as the Beta Tau chapter at Tulane University where they had the pleasure of celebrating Mardi Gras with the locals in sunny New Orleans, Louisiana.

Brothers Mcguire, Mead and Rohrbach visited the Pi chapter at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York before heading to Pearl River to see the back cover of the pledge manual. Moving south, they arrived at the Phi chapter at New York University where they enjoyed a night on the town. Sunday evening, these three brothers were joined by Brothers DiGuilian, Consalvo, Finnell, and Jones to visit the Delta chapter at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. The following day, they traveled to the Phi Epsilon chapter at the University of Maryland for yet more wonderful Zeta Psi hospitality. The Alpha Pi chapter at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute in Blacksburg, Virginia was the next stop for the brothers who spent two nights enjoying a welcoming environment and mirth. These brothers then continued their journey onwards to the Delta Chi chapter at American University in Washington, where they were joined by Brother DiGiulian, and they even ran into the Theta Eta chapter from Brock University. The last stop on their whirlwind tour was the Rho Alpha chapter at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts. There they met up with Brother Shiu and Jones, who went to Tufts University to visit the Kappa chapter

Brothers DiGiulian, Consalvo, and Finnell had started their tour at the Eta chapter at New Haven, Connecticut before their trip to the Delta chapter where they enjoyed some New Jersey hospitality as they met up with their other Alpha Psi brothers. The next day, they continued on with their trip where the next stop was North Carolina. There were two destinations here- the Sigma Gamma chapter and the Upsilon chapter at North Carolina State University and the University of North Carolina respectively. After two wonderful nights in North Carolina, they again headed north, this time to the Gamma Epsilon chapter at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. After their epic journey, Brothers Consalvo and Finnell had to return home.

All of the Brothers on these trips would like to thank their gracious hosts at each chapter they visited. Alpha Psi looks forward to return visits and would be very grateful if any and all of the chapters we visited would venture north to Montreal and enjoy the city and our chapter.

West Down the 401, Again

This past weekend, Elder Brother Clancy and Brothers Mead, Duffy Fagan, and Hopkins-Hill had the pleasure of spending a night on the town with the Theta Psi chapter at Queens University in Kingston, Ontario. Great fun was had by all as an entire day’s worth of fun was packed into a few short hours. The following afternoon, the destination was Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario and the Theta Eta chapter. Friday evening was again a true Zeta Psi event as brothers came out in force to make sure we saw the best that the Niagara region had to offer. While the actives recovered on Saturday, Elder Brother Clancy journeyed to London, Ontario to further aid the reactivation of the Theta Phi chapter. Upon his return to St. Catharines, the party was already in full swing and all the Alpha Psi brothers were enjoying themselves immensely. Everyone who made this trek would like to thank both Theta Psi and Theta Eta for so graciously opening their doors and treating us to such a wonderful weekend. We await the opportunity to reciprocate the favour!

Alpha Psi Visits the Midwest

Over reading week, two Brothers from the Alpha Psi chapter set out on a bold adventure to visit some of their brothers across the midwest states. They began in Michigan, visiting the Xi chapter at the University of Michigan. Next stop, after a greasy five patty burger in Ann Arbor, they set out for Chicago, Illinois. In Chicago, they had a chance to experience cultural landmarks that the city had to offer, then a visit to the Sigma Phi chapter at the University of Illinois at Chicago. The next visit was to Purdue University in Lafayette, Indiana. After learning the game of beer die from the Tau Gamma chapter, they were on the road again to Cleveland to visit the Nu chapter at Case Western Reserve University. From Cleveland, they set out to return to their home nation of Canada for some much needed rest. Brothers John Hopkins-Hill and Max Gubert would like to thank all their hosts for their fantastic hospitality as well as the many memories and friendships made over the course of their journey. Alpha Psi looks forward to returning soon!

Alpha Psi Journeys to Kingston and London

This past weekend Brothers Feldman, Hare, Tsangaris, Tucci, and Elder Brother Clancy, voyaged west to Kingston and London Ontario, to visit the Theta Psi Chapter at Queens University and aid in the rush process needed for the re-initiation of the Theta Phi Chapter at the University of Western Ontario. At Queens, Theta Psi showed great hospitality, opening their doors to their Alpha Psi brothers. It is an exciting time for Theta Psi, as the chapter has evolved markedly over the past two years and exhibits significant potential as a great example as a future powerhouse Canadian chapter. On the same note, Theta Phi opened their doors to our brothers, and showed us a good time in London. A special thanks to pledge Dani Weryha, who has been wearing his pledge pin for two years! The Theta Phi chapter is on their way to becoming an active chapter, and Alpha Psi is proud to be part of the reestablishment of the chapter. We would like to thank both Theta Psi and Theta Phi for their hospitality, and look forward to hosting them in Montreal for LTIs!

Tau Theta Welcomes Alpha Psi

The weekend of February 4th, 9 Alpha Psi Brothers travelled the 6 hours down the 401 to Oshawa and the amazing Tau Theta chapter for their LTI’s. In addition to excellent speakers, the night events truly allowed Brothers from every chapter to bond. On Saturday night, we had the privilege of attending their 7th Annual Chartering Banquet, thanks in large part to the support of our generous Elders. Although Oshawa is not Montreal, there was never any doubt that Alpha Psi was amongst friends and completely at home. Tau Theta did a wonderful job hosting this event and they have set the bar high for our own LTI’s the weekend of March 3rd.

Successful 164th Zeta Psi Convention

With the 164th Annual Zeta Psi International Convention coming to an end on Sunday, August 21st, 2011, the Alpha Psi chapter leaves one step closer to their ultimate year end goal. The Convention was a huge success on many levels. To start, there were 12 Alpha Psi actives and 10 elders attended, which made for an incredible experience for all those in attendance, and made a lasting impression on those who were experiencing their first Convention. It is safe to say that every active brother returned home with several new friends, memories, and a strong outlook of the Alpha Psi chapter’s future. To top it all off, Alpha Psi was awarded our second Gold Chapter award in a row, which served as a great ending to a wonderful weekend! It marks the end of one year, and the beginning of the next.  Over the coming year, our chapter is looking forward to developing our relations with brothers all over not only North America, but the world.  With new chapters being opened every year, we look forward to the opportunity to bond with our brothers and truly exemplify the Vision laid out by Bill Comstock many years ago.

Zete Outing at Dorney Amusement Park

On Tuesday, August 17th, brothers Charlie DiGiulian, Joseph Feldman, Dan Fussman, Stefan Prokopetz, and ‘the Swede’ (Hayden Evans) kicked off convention weekend by taking a road trip to Dorney Amusement Park in Northern Pennsylvania. The brothers decided to have a day of fun out in the sun before attending a week of LTI’s and formal events. Despite the day commencing with a 2 hour drive due to a malfunction with the GPS (in a car with no air conditioning), every brother… well almost every brother had an amazing time. As a group, the brothers rode every roller coaster at the park.

Shout out to Brother Prokopetz for overcoming exhibiting his fear of heights and high speeds by riding the biggest roller coaster at the park, Steel Force (see picture above).

Convention Approaching Fast!

It’s the middle of August, and for us Zetes, that can only mean one thing: it is time for the Zeta Psi Convention! And this year will be no ordinary Convention, as it is set in New York City, the birthplace of our beloved fraternity (well, the convention is technically in New Jersey, but who’s keeping track).

The fraternity is anticipating a big turnout for the 164th Convention, expecting over 500 Zetes from all over the globe. The Alpha Psi chapter, will certainly be playing its part, with over 20 brothers, including 15 actives who are going to be in attendance. The Elder contingent is led by the Sigma Alpha, Brother Barth Gillan, who has attended seemingly every year since his birth.

Despite ending the wonderful 2010/2011 school year very strong, Alpha Psi is looking to improve. As we head into a new year, we are looking to do bigger and better things than ever before, and it all begins at Convention! The Alpha Psi Chapter has a very clear goal for the upcoming year, and with our current roster of active brothers, there is no reason it cannot be achieved!

We hope to see you in New York!

Summer Work in Calgary (The Wolf Pack of ZΨ)

This past summer, Elder Brother Wayne Burke provided active AΨ Brothers Eddy Drew, Brian Farnan, Drew Grassby, Steven Curran, and Dan Conacher with the opportunity to work at his sales office in Calgary, Alberta. The summer began with Wayne providing the boys with access to a car, and giving them the opportunity to work in sales all summer.

The brothers worked hard all summer, and most importantly played hard. They practiced the art of door to door sales, learning a lot during the process. Overall, the summer has been deemed a success so far, as the experience of working door-to-door sales has been invaluable, benefitting the brothers both personally and professionally.

Brothers Drew, Grassby, Farnan, Curran, and Conacher would like to thank Elder Brother Wayne for providing them with the opportunity of a lifetime this summer!

With the summer winding down, the pack prepares itself to meet up with the rest of the AΨ brothers for the 164th Annual Zeta Psi International Convention in New York City.
