Tau Theta Welcomes Alpha Psi

The weekend of February 4th, 9 Alpha Psi Brothers travelled the 6 hours down the 401 to Oshawa and the amazing Tau Theta chapter for their LTI’s. In addition to excellent speakers, the night events truly allowed Brothers from every chapter to bond. On Saturday night, we had the privilege of attending their 7th Annual Chartering Banquet, thanks in large part to the support of our generous Elders. Although Oshawa is not Montreal, there was never any doubt that Alpha Psi was amongst friends and completely at home. Tau Theta did a wonderful job hosting this event and they have set the bar high for our own LTI’s the weekend of March 3rd.

75th Annual Ski Trip

During the weekend of January 27-29, over 40 participants embarked upon an unforgettable journey: The 75th Annual TKO Productions Ski Trip. The trip ran by TKO Productions lived up to its highly hyped reputation as one of the top student-run ski trips. The five plus hour bus ride up to Mount Sainte-Anne was indeed long, but fun was to be had on the bus. With over half the trip surviving the first night, and making it to the ski hill, great conditions and short wait lines led to an all-round great ski day. Congratulations to the famed Beer Pong Tournament winners Brothers Hare and Tucci. The Brothers would like to thank TKO Productions for such an amazing weekend, as well as all the participants of this fantastic trip. Alpha Psi is looking forward to the bigger and better 76th Annual TKO Ski Trip. Do us proud TKO Productions!

Alpha Psi Zetes Raise over $5,000 for Canadian Cancer Society

Students and Management Carnival Participants gathered on Friday, January 20th, 2012, for the 29th Annual McGill University Cancer Auction in the Bronfman Concourse to raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society. Back in November, Hype Week 2011 was able to raise over $750, and a goal of raising over $10,000 for Carnival was set. This goal was obliterated at this years Cancer Auction, with over $15,000 being raised on Friday alone ($18,000 in total since the Fall semester). We are proud to say that the Alpha Psi Chapter was responsible for raising over $5,500 of the $18,000 total! We look forward to next years auction, and hope to raise even more money for this great cause!

Alpha Psi Zetes donate over 1500 canned goods to homeless.

Over the week of January 15th, the Alpha Psi chapter donated over 1500 canned goods to the various shelters in the Montreal area. The cans were raised through an event called MUS Carnival, where 2 Zete teams donated 1008 and 504 cans respectively totaling 1,512 cans. Not only were canned goods donated, but the Zete teams were also responsible for donating piles and piles of clothing as well. Special thanks to Brother Graham Litman, Brother Sean Finnell, Brother Michael Consalvo and Brother Joseph Feldman for all the help in pursuing this philanthropic endeavor. The Alpha Psi chapter is ecstatic to start the year off so strongly, and excited to see what they can accomplish throughout the new year.

Brother Alex Rohrbach Named CUFLA Rookie of the Year

In his first year at McGill University, Brother Alex Rohrbach has already made an impact on Redmen Sports, as he was named the Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association’s (CUFLA) rookie of the year and was also selected to play on the Eastern Divisions All-Star Team. The Alpha Psi chapter would like to congratulate Brother Rohrbach on these impressive accomplishments!

Congratulations to Our Newly Elected Phi

The Alpha Psi chapter is delighted to recognize Brother Chris McGuire as the newly elected Phi. Entering the position in his fifth year as a Zete, Brother McGuire brings a range of experience that few brothers can offer. His depth of involvement ranges in his positions as Delta (2008 through 2009), Alpha Phi (2009 through 2010), and Gamma (2010 to present).

Brother McGuire takes on a large responsibility presiding over the largest Alpha Psi class in history. Regardless of the chapter’s size, he is committed to maintaining the quality and integrity of our organization and its members. Our chapter has no doubt regarding Brother McGuire’s ability to accomplish great things, and we are excited to see these come to fruition over the next year.

The future looks brighter than ever for Alpha Psi.

Zeta Psi Featured in Bull and Bear Newspaper

The Bull and Bear newspaper recently published an article on the subject of Greek Life in the Faculty of Management featuring the two prominent fraternities within the faculty, Zeta Psi and Phi Kappa Pi. Brothers Charlie DiGiulian, Adam Duffy Fagan, Joseph Feldman, and Chase Potter were interviewed to discuss the reasoning behind their involvement in Greek Life at McGill, and specifically what role it plays in their life in the Faculty of Management. A link to the full article can be found here.

A Successful Movember

With the month of “Movember” coming to an end, the Alpha Psi Chapter would like to thank everyone that supported their efforts to raise awareness for prostate cancer. First of all, it is amazing to note that Canada was the No. 1 fundraiser in the world, with a staggering $37 million from 245,000 registered participants, an increase from $22.3 million last year. We are also proud to note that the Alpha Psi Chapter did its part by raising a whopping $1,052 over the month! The chapter ended the month with 42 manly ‘staches, showcasing them at Management Hype Week, the ‘CASCO: Night at the Movies’ dance show, the Movember Apartment Crawl, and many more events. Alpha Psi’s efforts are seen as the most successful on campus out of any other greek letter organization! But unfortunately with Movember finished for another year, all those moustaches, grown in the name of prostate cancer awareness and fundraising, await their fate. We look forward to next ‘Movember’, where we hope to raise more money, and raise more awareness!

The chapter award for the Best Moustache goes to Brother Dan Conacher with overwhelming support from the chapter.

The worst attempt at a moustache award going to Brother Emerson Shiu (despite starting 1 year early), with Brother Max Adelson as an honorable mention. But as Brother Katzen has stated, “its not the size that matters its how you use it.”

Brosaica 3.0 @ CASCO: Night At The Movies 2011

On November 18, 2011, Brosaica had its third performance at the CASCO: A Night at The Movies fundraiser. The dance show fundraiser was held at the Telus Theatre in Montreal, Canada, with all proceeds from ticket sales and raffles going towards the Montreal Children’s Hospital.

Brosaica was founded in 2009 almost by pure accident. One night, a young and beautiful dancer from McGill University’s Mosaica Dance Company discovered a number of Zetes performing in a dance-off at a local club in Montreal. Upon seeing some of the studliest moves including the moonwalk, the fist pump, the percolator and some more fist pumps, she quickly recruited these men to be a part of what would become one of the greatest dance crew’s in Canadian history.

Brosaica 3.0 consisted of Brothers Brian Farnan, Joseph Feldman, Max Gubert, Julian Galiano Celestino, Eddy Drew, Lucas Sawatzky, Steven Curran, Logan Yergens, Michael Szpejda, and Dan Fussman, and their three Mosaica coaches Eric Eloffsen, Natalie Mazzaferro, and Amara Salloum.

In Brosaica’s third performance, the crowd could NOT stop cheering. As opposed to the previous year’s performance, this particular number featured a blend of cheeky theatrics with well-renowned dance moves. Many spectator’s confirmed that Brosaica “stole the show” and had the “best performance.” In addition, their moustaches had their 15 seconds of fame and are now widely recognized on campus as some of the most innovative Movember staches.

The Alpha Psi Chapter was involved in CASCO on many other levels besides Brosaica. Brother Chase Potter and Elder Brother Mehmet Shah MC’ed the evening and kept the audience entertained with their charming moustaches and cunning sense of humour. In addition, actives and elders came to support their brothers and the charity. When including brothers in attendance and the many guests invited by Brosaica, the Alpha Psi chapter alone raised close to $600 in ticket sales.

Special Thanks to Manuella Djuric for the video and Michaela Hirsh for the photo.
